SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation

Water scarcity affects more than 40 percent of people, an alarming figure that is projected to rise as temperatures do. Although 2.1 billion people have improved water sanitation since 1990, dwindling drinking water supplies are affecting every continent. More and more countries are experiencing water stress, and increasing drought and desertification is already worsening these trends. Safe and affordable drinking water for all by 2030 requires we invest in adequate infrastructure, provide sanitation facilities, and encourage hygiene. Protecting and restoring water-related ecosystems is essential.

Ensuring universal safe and affordable drinking water involves reaching over 800 million people who lack basic services and improving accessibility and safety of services for over two billion.

Imported water ATM project

Clean water is essential not only to stay away from the diseases but also to stay healthy and fit. Safe and readily available water is important for public health, whether it is used for drinking, domestic use, food production or recreational purposes. Improved water supply and sanitation, and better management of water resources, can boost country's economic growth and can contribute greatly to poverty reduction.

The Kalol city of Gujarat has huge water scarcity problem and the minimal water that is available is very much polluted due to the presence of huge number of industries nearby. The water is full of arsenic which makes it unfit for drinking. This is the reason HHI has come with the initiative of installing water ATM in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat. 4 water ATMs is going to get installed in the Kalol city which will provide 10 litres of water in just ₹5.

All the water ATMs has been imported and the water is RO purified water. Another project on which HHI is working on is to install the provision of mobile water ATM machine so that all the people who cannot access clean drinking water can get this RO purified water easily. This will help people stay healthy and fit.
